Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of leadership styles and culture of the learning organization on the effectiveness of schools. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study was 300 principals of all girls' high schools in Tabriz in the academic year of 1998-99, of which 175 principals were selected by cluster sampling as a statistical sample. Bass and Oliver (2013) Leadership Style Questionnaire, Hui and Miskel Effectiveness Questionnaire (2013) and Young Learning Organization Culture Questionnaire (2014) were used to collect data. Using descriptive and inferential statistical methods, the results showed that any change in transformational and exchange leadership style will be accompanied by a change in the culture of the learning organization and any increase in the culture of the learning organization will be accompanied by an increase in the effectiveness of schools. The highest correlation coefficient was seen between the culture of the learning organization and effectiveness and the lowest correlation coefficient was seen between the two variables of leadership style of non-intervention and the culture of the learning organization. Also, the relationship between transformational and exchange styles with the culture of the learning organization and the effectiveness of schools was seen as significant. At the same time, there was no significant relationship between the two variables of non-intervention style and school effectiveness. The mediating role of learning organization culture in the relationship between leadership styles and school effectiveness in the model was also confirmed
