Investigating the mediating role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between transformational leadership style and the level of accountability of school principals

Abstract

One of the criteria for judging the dynamics and effectiveness of an organization is to measure the sensitivity of the leaders of that organization to the satisfaction of stakeholders and Continuous accountability or implicit and implicit expectations of them to justify their beliefs, feelings and behaviors towards customers. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship of transformational leadership style and the level of Accountability of school principals in Mahshahr city through the mediating variable of emotional intelligence. The statistical population of the study consisted of all school principals in Mahshahr with 320 people. Based on Krejcie and Morgan table, a sample of 175 people was selected by simple random sampling.

The research method is descriptive and correlational. Data were collected using the Bass & Avolio (1985) Transformational Leadership Questionnaire, Hochwarter et al (2007) and Petrides & Furnham (2001) Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, and the validity of these tools was confirmed by experts. The reliability coefficient of the transformational leadership questionnaire by Cronbach's alpha methods was 0.90, the reliability of the accountability questionnaire by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.74 and the reliability of the emotional intelligence questionnaire by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was estimated to be 0.93. Statistical methods of correlation coefficient and structural equation modeling were used to analyze the data.

Findings showed that the relationship of transformational leadership style through the mediating variable of emotional intelligence with the level of accountability of school principals is significant and the research hypothesis was confirmed.
