Analyzing the effect of authoritarian leadership on employee creativity and job performance with emphasis on the mediating role of leader-member exchange (Case study: Sepah Bank, Yazd Province)

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of authoritarian leadership on employee creativity and job performance with emphasis on the mediating role of leader-member exchange. The present research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of nature and method. The statistical population 920 employees of Sepah Bank in Yazd province. Using Cochran's formula, 271 people were selected as a sample. The data collection tool is the standard questionnaires. The results , showed that authoritarian leadership has a moderate, direct and positive effect on leader-member exchange and on employee creativity and job performance. Medium, direct and indirect, and positive effect has a significant, leader-member exchange has a moderate, direct and significant effect on employee creativity and has a weak, direct and indirect and significant effect on job performance, as well as employee creativity has a weak effect on job performance. , Direct and meaningful Finally, leader-member exchange can play a mediating role. Despite the designed model, it can be expected that bank managers may be able to increase the leader-member exchange, creativity and job performance of their employees in the short-term through authoritarian leadership, and are even able to mediate creativity and job performance with the help of a mediating role. Increase leader-member exchanges further, but if they want to continue the banking process in the long run with such an authoritarian leadership style, they will never be able to and will deal a fatal blow to the bank.
