Investigating the lived experiences of educators, literates' students and experts about literacy movement programs with emphasis on opportunities and challenges

Abstract

The aim of the research was to investigate the status of the activities of the literacy movement and the challenges governing it and to find solutions based on the lived experiences of educators, learners and education experts. Qualitative and phenomenological methods were used in this research. The interviewees of the research included all teachers, literates' students and specialists of Ardabil city in the academic year of 2022-2023. Data were collected using in-depth and semi-structured interviews.In the findings section, firstly, in the interview with educators, the majority believed in the existence of challenges and presented solutions to overcome the challenges. In the next step, in the interview with the literates' students, like educators, the existence of basic problems in the activities of the literacy movement was emphasized, and solutions were presented to overcome the challenges. In the end, an interview was conducted with experts about how the government supports literacy programs, the type of content taught, the optimal implementation of literacy movement programs, and suggestions for overcoming challenges. As a result, to improve the activities of the literacy movement, various solutions were found, some of which include; Financing and guaranteeing the jobs of educators, increasing the social value of the activities of the literacy movement, preparing and compiling new content according to the needs and level of understanding of literates' students, allocating suitable educational space, considering financial incentives for literates' students, Practical skill training, support of the media and presentation of a valid certificate.
