Abstract

Background and Objective: This study intended to investigate the effects of managerial competencies with the mediating role of work ethic on social identity among academic staff members of Amir Kabir University.
research methodology: It was a quantitative and the correlation research design is of the structural equation modeling type. The statistical population of all faculty members of Amir Kabir University was 672 people, and a sample of 195 people was selected by stratified random sampling using Karjesi and Morgan table. In order to collect data, three questionnaires of competence of Danaee Fard et al. (2008), social identity of Richard Chenkins (2008) and professional ethics of Ghasemzadeh (2013) were used. In order to investigate the relationships between variables, four hypotheses have been presented and were analyzed by the structural equation modeling method. Also, SmartPLS3 tool were applied to interpret the hypotheses and to reach conclusions.
Findings: The results of structural analysis showed a direct relationship between managerial competencies and social identity, managerial competencies and ethics, identity and ethics is positive and significant. Also, the mediation of work ethics between the relationship between social identity and managerial competencies is positive and significant.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of the research, there is a positive and meaningful relationship between the managerial competencies and identity, and in this, the component of work ethics plays a mediating role; In this way, with the increase of work ethics, the relationship between managerial competencies and identity also increases.
