Identifying the opportunities and challenges of implementing transformational leadership in schools: a phenomenological research

Abstract

Background and Objective: The purpose of this research is Identifying the opportunities and challenges of implementing transformational leadership in schools elementary of Muchesh in Kurdistan province.
Research Methodology: Qualitative research approach and interpretive phenomenology method have been used. Ten people from Mochesh primary education principals have been selected as participants based on purposeful sampling with criterion method to the extent of data saturation, based on having (criteria of experience and brilliant work results and participation in festivals of top principals). Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through content analysis.
Findings: The results of the research showed that the self-reflection transformational leadership model (the manager's personality, managers' scientific literacy, managers' beliefs) and participatory leadership model (collaboration and participation with employees, holding training workshops, delegating authority to employees, creating responsibility and commitment in employees, using The capacity of parents in schools, the empowerment of employees) causes the creation and formation of transformational leadership and consequently causes change and transformation in schools.
Conclusion: According to the findings, the challenges of implementing transformational leadership include structural factors (lack of educational justice, centralized structure of the educational system), scientific factors (appointment selection of managers, lack of sufficient knowledge of managers), and motivational factors (lack of necessary and sufficient support from motivated managers, lack of sufficient salary and benefits, lack of allocation of sufficient funds).
