Presenting a model for promoting students' social skills with an emphasis on responsibility

Abstract

Background and Objective: One of the concerns of the educational system in all societies is the development of students' social skills. One of the ways for teenagers to adapt to school is to increase their responsibility and develop social skills. The aim of the present study is to provide a model for improving students' social skills with an emphasis on responsibility in non-government secondary schools.
research methodology: In terms of purpose, this research is practical and from the point of view of data collection, it is of qualitative type - Grounded theory. The required data collected through semi-structured interviews with non-governmental secondary school principals (with at least 10 years of non-governmental school management experience) and university faculty members in the fields of educational sciences, educational management, and curriculum planning through targeted sampling. The validity and reliability of the data collection tool also confirmed.
Findings: In the open coding stage, 143 open codes identified. In the axial coding stage, the identified concepts grouped around the six paradigms of the Grounded Theory. In this way, promoting social skills based on responsibility among students chosen as the central phenomenon. The resulting paradigmatic model is based on the central phenomenon, affected by causal conditions (skill-oriented curriculum, cooperative learning methods, teaching methods), contextual conditions (students' background in the school context) and intervening variables (family, peer group, student-teacher relationships) along with Strategies and consequences formed.
Conclusion: Teaching and promoting social skills among students by giving them responsibility leads to the development of students in multiple behavioral, psychological-cognitive and academic dimensions.
