Abstract

Objective: The present study aims to develop and validate an e-coaching model for educational leaders. This research is applied in nature, and in terms of methodology, it follows a mixed-methods approach (qualitative-quantitative).

research methodology: The qualitative phase involved experts in the field of education who had prior experience with e-coaching. Participants were selected purposive theoretical sampling, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 individuals. The data were analyzed using Colaizzi's coding method. In the quantitative phase, the proposed e-coaching model was validated using a researcher-developed questionnaire. The statistical population included school principals in Karaj during the 2023–2024 academic year. Based on Monte Carlo simulations for sample size estimation in factor analysis, a sample of 300 individuals was selected. Data analysis was conducted using Smart PLS software.

Findings: A total of 15 dimensions for e-coaching were identified from the qualitative section, including: “Acceptance of e-coaching,” “Asking reflective questions,” “Needs assessment,” “Competency level identification,” “coachee accountability,” “Goal setting,” “Planning,” “Content determination,” “Technology selection,” “Online safety,” “Provision of skilled human resources,” “Budget allocation,” “Interaction,” “Evaluation,” and “Feedback.” The validity of the qualitative findings was confirmed through triangulation, member checking, peer review, colleague examination, and documentation of the research process. The quantitative findings also showed that the developed model possessed acceptable validity.

Conclusion: An e-coaching model for educational leaders, comprising 15 dimensions and 56 indicators, that can be used to improve the performance and development of educational managers and leaders.
