Introduction and Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between job plateauing and knowledge concealment from an ethical perspective: the mediating role of distrust.
Research Methodology: The method of conducting the present study is a descriptive correlational study that uses maximum likelihood estimation with skewness adjustment. The statistical population of this study included all faculty members and staff of Hakim Sabzevari University who were working in the first semester of the academic year 1403-1404; the statistical sample of the study was estimated to be 232 people using the stratified random method and according to the Morgan table. To estimate the preliminary validity of the questionnaire, a prototype sample consisting of 40 people was tested. The content validity of the questionnaire was evaluated positively by professors and experts, and confirmatory factor analysis was also used to confirm the construct validity. The reliability of the questionnaire was also confirmed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient.
Research findings: According to the findings of this study, job plateauing, both directly and indirectly, through distrust, plays a special role in the level of knowledge concealment among employees of Hakim Sabzevari University.
Discussion and Conclusion: Managers and planners of higher education institutions can use the results of this study to implement special programs and strategies to reduce knowledge concealment and its dimensions and factors, institutionalize knowledge sharing in the organizational cultures of universities, and reduce distrust and plateauing among employees.
