Abstract
Background and Objective: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of transformative teaching on satisfying the basic psychological needs of students with academic failure.
Research Methodology: The present research method was semi-experimental. Among the second-year male high school students in Pars Abad, 40 students were selected by random method with repeated measurements and were assigned to the transformational teaching group (20 students) and the control group (20 students). In the first stage, convenience sampling was used for screening, and after identifying students with academic failure, in the second stage, random method with repeated measurements was used. To collect the required data, the LaGuardia et al. (2000) Basic Psychological Needs Questionnaire was used. First, the transformational teaching method was taught to the experimental group using educational protocols. After conducting interventions related to the transformational teaching method, the standard questionnaire was redistributed and after collecting the questionnaires, the data were analyzed with SPSS software and the analysis of variance with repeated measurements statistical test.
Findings: Therefore, considering the results of this research and similar studies, it can be said that the transformational teaching method improves the indicators of satisfaction of basic psychological needs and requires special attention to this issue in the country's educational system.
